Infected Nose piercing can be serious if not treated well in time quickly.
Normal Symptoms for new Piercing
During the first few weeks you might expect following signs or conditions:
- Surrounded are looks slightly red on the white skin
- Surrounded are looks slightly dark then usual on dark skin.
- Might have some bleeding, bruising, and swelling.
- Pale fluid will be produced in the form of crust.
How to check if you have an infected piercing?
If you have under mentioned symptoms your piercing might be infected:
- Surrounding area goes swollen, dark, red, hot, painful (usually depends upon your skin colour).
- Greenish, yellowish, white discharge coming out of it.
- Generally you feel shivery or hot.
- If you noticed or observed the above mentioned indications leave your jewelry in (unless your consultant ask to take it out) and consult your piercer or a medical professional.

What to Do
- Always select Licensed, experienced, and qualified piercer.
- Wash your hand with soap while cleaning.
- Clean Piercing spot twice in a day with clean cloth or materials.
- To soften any crusting use warm water with sea salt.
- Jewellery should be turned gently during the cleaning process
- Always use clean cloth, towel or paper to dry.
Don’t
- Don’t allow your piercer to use open needles.
- Don’t try to scratch the piercing spot.
- Do not allow your friend or himself your own piercing.
- Always use cotton bud or a pad for cleaning purpose (don’t use cotton wool).
- Never use the towel to dry piercing spot.
- Never turn or move the jewellery when piercing is dry.
- Never swim or take bath for the first 24 hours.
